Creating videos for your website or YouTube is a powerful tool for building your brand. It gives potential customers yet another way to know who you are. Making a video is not as daunting of a task as it might seem. With these helpful tips, you’ll be making great videos in no times!
Preparation for Content
- Have a goal for your viewers

- Have a purpose for the video

- Plan what you are going to say. You do not necessarily have to have a script word for word, just have general topics you are going to hit on.
- Have just a short 10-second intro that engages your viewers while summarizing what they are about to watch. A great way to do this is by asking a question.
Setting Up
- You do not need to buy any equipment! Just be in an area with good lighting and that is quiet so the audio for the video is good. Filming in a car can be a perfect place. The cameras on new mobile devices work great as well to film.
In the Video
- Make sure to look into the lens (not yourself) when talking to create eye contact.
- Be passionate and excited when talking! If you sound monotone people will get bored and stop watching. Be mindful to not go overboard as well, you want to seem genuine.
- Always mention your website or digital business card at the end of the video.
Post Video
- In the “description” box, make sure to put a description of the video. Also, link your social media accounts and your website.
- Just posting the video is not enough! Make sure to share it on your social media accounts.
- Always interact with viewers by responding to comments.
- Keep consistency when posting. Try to post a video at least once a month.
